Mission

Caribbean Spaceport’s mission is to develop a spaceport facility on the Netherlands Antilles island Curacao in order to service the exciting new and upcoming Personal Spaceflight market as well as the Scientific and expanding Low Earth Orbit (LEO) Small Satellite market.

History

Caribbean Spaceport was originally conceived of in 2005 in cooperation with various spaceflight and business professionals now united in Spaceport Partners.

Support

Since its first inception in 2005 Caribbean Spaceport has been working closely together with governmental, academic and business institutions to research and assess the technological, legal and economic feasibility as well as requirements of developing and operating a spaceport on Curacao.

These institutions include the Netherlands governement (Ministery of Economic Affairs) and the local government of the Netherlands Antilles island Curacao, the Curacao Airport Holding, the Delft University of Technology (Faculty of Space and Aerospace Engineering) the Leiden University (International Institute of Air and Space Law). JansenendeJong Construction Consultants, Remco System Construction and last but not least our architect and design bureau DDOCK Design Development. Caribbean Spaceport is most grateful for the ongoing support.

Planning

Caribbean Spaceport has concluded its feasibility studies, requirements analyses and business planning and is currently in the process of discussing investment options and acquiring funding. Additionally Caribbean Spaceport is in contact with various space-line operators and spacecraft developers concerning future operations from its spaceport. Based on current planning and developments Caribbean Spaceport is confident it will meet its aim to be able to serve the Personal Spaceflight market and other Commercial and Scientific Space Launch markets from 2014
